    Temel Bilgiler

    Pembe somon (veya kambur somon) Kuzey Pasifik’te Japonya’nın kıyılarından Kaliforniya ve Ark-tik’e kadar olan bölgede yaşar. 250 metre derinlikteki nehir ve kıyı bölgeleri tercih eder. Bu somon 76 santimetre boya ve üç kilo ağırlığa ulaşabilir. Üç yıl kadar yaşar.

    Pembe somon popülasyonunun boyutları bir coğrafi bölgeden diğerine değişiklik gösterir. Alaska ve Rusya’da iyi durumdayken, Kanada’daki popülasyon baskı altındadır ve bölgedeki balıkçılık hakkında yeterli bilgi yoktur. Yine de, üç bölgede de sorumlu balıkçılık yöntemlerinden dolayı MSC sertifikalı balıkçılık filoları vardır.
