    Temel Bilgiler

    Ahtapot, kafadanbacaklı bir yumuşakçadır ve dünyanın tüm denizlerinde bulunur. Dipte, 150 metre-ye ulaşan derinliklerde yaşar. Doğal yaşam alanı, kum, çamur ve kayalıklardır. 130 santimetre boya ve 10 kilo ağırlığa ulaşabilir. 1,5 yıl yaşar ve çoğunlukla kabukluları ve omurgasızları yer.
    FAO 34 kodlu balık avlanma alanındaki popülasyonunun durumu bilinmiyor ama aşırı avlanma yü-zünden tehdit altında olmadığı varsayılıyor. Tehdit altındaki türler arasında değil. Balıkçılığın çevre üzerindeki etkisi ise araştırılmamış.
