    Temel Bilgiler
    Humbolt kalamarı Doğu Pasifik’te yaşar ve Kuzey ile Güney Amerika kıyılarında bulunur. Ortalama boyu 80 santimetre olmasına rağmen dört metreye kadar büyüyebilir; bu nedenle dev kalamar diye de bilinir. Pelajik bir türdür, 0 ila 1200 metre arasındaki suları tercih eder.
    Humbolt kalamarının popülasyonu iyi durumda ve olta balıkçılığın olumsuz etkisi oldukça az. Bu kalamar türünün endüstriyel balıkçılığyla ilgili düzenlenme yapmak zor çünkü sayıları iklim değişikliği ve El Niño fenomeni gibi dış etkenlerden oldukça etkileniyor.
